Support
to the Foreign Investment Advisory Council (FIAC) GEO/98/011 Background: To sustain a process of economic and social recovery, Georgia is supported by bilateral and multilateral assistance from several donors. The effectiveness and the impact of external assistance depends to a large degree on the Government’s ability to manage and co-ordinate, the identification, design, implementation and monitoring of donor assisted programmes. To support this process at the political level in 1997 by the decision of the President of Georgia Foreign Investment Advisory Council under the President of Georgia has been created. Objective : The project aims to support the Government of Georgia in its efforts to improve planning, allocation, coordination and monitoring of external resources coming to Georgia towards agreed priority programs through assisting the Foreign Investment Advisory Council under the President of Georgia. Activities: Strengthening the capacity of the Secretariat of
the Foreign Investment Advisory Council Expected outcomes: The Secretariat of the FIAC is fully operational and sustainable. The needed equipment is operational (software and hardware), the core staff is trained, etc. The Government capacity to mobilise and manage external resources is increased (GPD is fully operational and is available to donors and the Government on Internet, FIAC Web-site is created, regular sectoral and Donor Co-ordination meetings are arranged, periodic bulletins are issued); The climate for external resources mobilisation in Georgia is improved. |
