Background:

1997 was declared as a year of combating corruption in the country. President of Georgia initiated the establishment of a state anti-corruption advisory council which would elaborate the state anti-corruption strategy and lead the state policy in this respect. The project should be considered as a part of the state anti-corruption strategy. National Project Director is a member of that council and

co-ordinates all the project related activities with the strategy adopted by the council.

The project aims at establishing and supporting the Anti-Corruption Promotion Group - a temporary NGO, which will conduct in-depth study of the problem of corruption in the country, propose legislative and administrative measures to combat and limit corruption in the country and facilitate informational support to the anti-corruption policy.

1. To create an appropriate level of technical and human resources for the in-depth study of the problem of corruption in Georgia;

2. To provide informational support to the anti-corruption policy;

3. To provide state and administrative structures with measures to combat the corruption.

1. The problem of corruption will be studied at a scientific level;

2. The population will be systematically provided with information on corruption;

3. The group will provide state and administrative structures with adequate consultations using knowledge and expertise acquired in the field concerned;

4. The group will be taking part in the discussions and elaboration of anti-corruption legislative instruments.
