It continues to support the Georgian government in phasing out the consumption of ozone-depleting substances (ODS).
The period of 2009-2010 is critical for facilitating the implementation of the Chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs) 100% reduction measure of the Montreal Protocol. The Institutional Strengthening is essential to guarantee the success of the actions.
In addition, the project provides assistance to the National Ozone Office for initiating actions related to the new decisions on Hydrochlorofluorocarbons (HCFCs) taken at the nineteenth Meeting of the Parties to the Montreal Protocol on Substances that Deplete the Ozone Layer (MOP-19).
The project focuses on the following areas:
- Awareness raising campaigns to increase consciousness of decision-makers and population on ozone-related issues;
- Implementation, monitoring and coordination of the Institutional Strengthening programme and all other related activities under the Montreal Protocol;
- Knowledge building and sharing on best practices in refrigeration, Methyl Bromide and metered dose inhalers (MDI) sectors;
- Collection of information on ODS consumption and reporting to MLFS and Ozone Secretariat.
