UNDP works in more than 170 countries and territories, offering global perspective and local insights to help empower lives and build resilient nations. UNDP works on many critical development issues, from combating and adapting to climate change, stopping HIV/AIDS, protecting the environment and promoting good, inclusive governance.
UNDP is part of Georgia’s success in many fields, including reforms of key democratic institutions and the development of new policies for promoting sustainable economic growth.. We also acknowledge challenges and stand ready to work with government, civil society, private sector and international organizations in order to address them.
Last year, 19-year old Nino Narmania learnt that she needed computer skills to do her favourite job—sewing and making clothes. Intrigued and excited by the project, she enrolled in a college-level professional tailoring programme in Poti, a provincial town in western Georgia. More >>
Conflicts in the 1990s and in 2008 left Georgia with over 270 thousand displaced and the shattered economy in the affected regions. Poverty, unemployment, poor housing and lack of social development – are the usual challenges faced by people in the areas with high concentration of the displaced. More >>
Isolda Kitesashvili became a farmer to help her family out of extreme poverty. She used to be a doctor in Kakheti, until the early 1990s when she and her husband both lost their jobs. To survive, she became farmer. She knew nothing about farming and for several years Isolda was barely able to make a living. More >>
